A URL Shortener War? Bit.ly Tries to Upstage Digg’s New Toolbar

TinyURL has made the process famous (and has definitely done the best at branding themselves for this niche. Twitter (and microblogging in general) has done the most to make the process useful. And now there seems to me a market share war going on over who's the top dog in the URL shortening business.

It's not much of a war. TinyURL has 76% of the market according to TechCrunch. Mew;y minted Bit.ly is second with 13% of the market.

And Digg, with it's new URL shortener on the DiggBar? Market share yet to be determined…
