If people know what's going to be discussed at the next board meeting they can think about it ahead of time and come up with things to discuss at the meeting, instead of being surprised.

By using an internal social networking program in their intranet they can discuss ideas all day long and by discussing every idea and every detail they can come up with better ideas.

Another benefit of having the social networking program on their internal intranet is privacy. If they are discussing company ideas on an online message board who knows who will see it.
