Also at the
Web Innovator's Forum, there were a handful of companies that demonstrated their services in the back of the room. I got to talk to Erik Fantasia, the founder of
Calorie Count. Calorie Count is an excellent combination of content, application and community. Calorie Count started when Erik started searching for "
calories in banana" and "
calories in pizza" and other
calorie in food searches. He didn't find anything. So, he tapped the USDA databases and started a search site. Since 2003, it has expanded into a full blown tool for individuals to record their daily diets and activities. By doing so, individuals can track their performance over time, invite friends and others to view their diet and activity logs. Individuals can create profiles and connect social networking style to their friends. Given that most dieters simply
want to watch what they eat, Calorie Count is a refreshingly understated and yet-unmarketed way to lose weight, especially when compared to all the other overhyped, money making, prepared food hawking dieting plans.
If you are interested in losing some weight through a combination of diet and exercise, I'd recommend using
Calorie Count as your
calorie counter
, calorie calculator, diet and activity tracking, support community.
