Churches Get In On Social Networking

According to the Chicago Defender, United Methodist Communications has turned their Web site into a social networking site for Methodists.

Methodists can now network online with other Methodists. They can create their own personal profile, write their own blog, upload photos and create a network of friends of their own religion. They can also flag posts that they find on the site that may be inappropriate. The site has filters to filter out most inappropriate things but people are creative.

What do you think about religious social networking sites? Will this be a better way for Methodists to express their religion with each other or will it just turn into a site full of personal profiles?
