The Social Networking Weblog

North Carolina has put together a bill that is aimed at keeping children off social networking sites without permission from their parents. In the bill there's a definition of what a social networking site is. I thought you would all be interested to see what makes a site fall under the category of a social networking site, as defined by the state of North Carolina.

There are four main things that make up a social networking site, under this definition, and two things that make the site not a social networking site. I don't totally agree with this definition. One thing I don't agree with it the exclusion of photo sharing sites from social networking. Sure they're not the same kind of social networking site as MySpace, but they do let people interact, create their own profile page and share photos and ideas.
