Did Google Force Fake Orkut Site Offline?
Filed in archive by Creative Weblogging on August 08, 2006
is a pet peeve of mine, I decided to report this to Google's Orkut team and they informed me that they had passed this message to "the appropriate team." Not long after I received a reply from Google the site no longer was online as you can see from this screen shot below.
Apparently whoever owned the site was either contacted directly by Google or decided to quit after the blogosphere had picked up on this phishing scheme.
Since the site was registered by someone in West Orange, New Jersey, authorities may have the legal means to arrest and hopefully remove another internet thief from cyberspace.
