Digg Downsizes

A couple of sources (Mashable, TechCrunch, Hitwise) are reporting on the layoffs at Digg.

Call it seven people or call it 10% of their work force. It comes at the same time that Twitter is evidently passing Digg in market share. From TechCrunch:
The paring back at Digg comes along during a brutal advertising recession, and flattening growth at the site. In the U.S., Digg attracted 6.8 million unique visitors in December, up only 2 percent since its last peak in July (comScore numbers).
Mashable pointed out that while Digg has yet to turn a profit, the company still has plenty of cash on-hand. They raised $28 million in fresh funding in September.
