Social Networking darling, Digg.com, arguably the hottest thing to hit the tech world in some time, looks to expand just a bit very, very soon.
If promises of new categories aren't enough, how does integrated audio and video sound? Yep, sounds hot to me too.
CEO Jay Adelson says they have a ton of viewers (he said it prettier) and they have the readership to support venturing out into other areas (say sports or business news). What I really can appreciate here is his comment that Digg was profitable before their new VC (venture capital) of 2.8 million came rolling in, just using Google Adsense.
Digg just pulled in the VC from some several investors, including some from a group led by eBay co-founder Pierre Omidyar and Netscape co-founder Marc Andreessen.
I have to add that Diggnation (the video and the audio) is my very favorite download each week, even though the beer part gets on my last nerve. Kevin and Alex are charming and I really enjoy the banter. Doesn't hurt that neither is hard on the eyes either ;)
I, along with the rest of the net, really love Digg (just for the articles man). Way to go fellows!
