Eurekster: People Powered Search
Eurekster won a people's choice award at 'Under the radar' conference in the 'Search 2.0' category. The 'Under the Radar' blog has a great description of what they are doing:
At Eurekster, they believe that the web will evolve in the same way as other media channels. Access to the web has been initially controlled by a series of major entities (portals and search engines) but it is now expanding and changing so users can choose the sites and search engines they will use based on how relevant they are to them. Eurekster has been build to empower the publishers of the web to offer more relevant search to their audiences and to earn their share of the $5 billion paid search and advertising market. They offer differing level of service based size of the publisher. Panelists were concerned about the revenue model of Eurekster. Overall they thought the service was very powerful. Also, getting up and started with Eurekster took minimal time..very user friendly.
