As a band, musician, actor, athlete, writer, speaker, industry leader, comedian, poet or any other performer, Eventful offers you tools to connect directly with the community through Eventful Demand and your own Performer page.
Eventful Demand gives users the ability to start a new Demand for you anywhere in the world and the tools to spread the word and get other people to join the Demand. It is up to them to spread the word and make the case for why you should come to their hometown. You will be able to track every Demand for you from your Performer page and see where you're being demanded and how many people are demanding you in each location.
Eventful then lets everyone see who the top performers are and what performers have the most demand.
And which demands have the most people demanding them.
Overall, I think this is a pretty revolutionary capability. If people besides Wil Wheaton start using it, I think this could change the way booking agents, speakers bureaus, concert promoters, event planners, etc conduct their business. I've previously planned events in conjunction with online communities. And the event was well attended because the community had a say in the programming of the event as it was being put together.

Good post. These event social networks have a lot of potential however I still can't find certain types of events like urban / african-american related events. There is one site that I just found called ClickUrban (http://www.clickurban.com)
that has pretty good listings for my area but not too many other sites have events that I am interested in.
