Faking a Presidential Campaign
"By creating a character with an interesting story, they have designed a campaign that uses entertainment with an angle to get attention for BigFix." ~Buzz Networking (July 3)

They did it all for page views. This is a brilliant marketing campaign designed to bring in people to their Web site and make some sales, and it worked.

Fictitious character Ray Hopewood has social networking and social bookmarking sites all over the place. He's running for president of the U.S. and is a software mogul in Silicon Valley. But he's not real, not one little bit. Made up for shear marketing purposes Ray Hopewood is getting a lot of attention all over the social networking community and may even have a chance at the Presidency, even though he's not real.
