Google's Orkut Fighting Scrap Spam With Word Verification
Filed in archive by Creative Weblogging on August 2, 2006
With scrap spam increasing throughout the forums annoying many users it seems that Google has implemented a word verification system on users whenever they try to post a link to a friend's scrapbook.

Orkut has in the past weeks been hit with a virus attack that has crippled some users PC's. Although Google has been fighting this by suppressing the link, users are still being annoyed with useless scraps advertising everything from porn to internet scams.

This seems to have cut down on much of the spam (especially in my scrapbook) and will hopefully restore the scrapbook for what it was originally intended for--a tool to communicate with those you care about (as well as those you don't).
