Invasion of Privacy, or Fun Way To Meet People?

"In an interview with silicon.com, futurologist Ian Pearson (whose job title we covet) says that folks will wear devices to "radiate their Web presence" and connect with people who share their interests. While we aren't sure we'd be interested in routinely opening ourselves up to interaction with passersby – even those who ostensibly share our interests – it seems like a natural for "closed loop" events like conferences." ~IT Business Edge (July 12)
Can you imagine walking down the street and knowing who's in your network because the device you're wearing is telling you so. You can then decide to chat with that person, if you wanted to, while still walking to your location.
This may be a little too close for comfort for many people, an invasion of privacy. Do you really want the people on the street to know who you are and be able to access your personal profile on a whim? Have strangers be able to read your blog?
I'm not sure that too many people I know would want that kind of intrusion into their lives, but maybe many would. Might be good for dating though.
Would you be willing to be able to connect with anyone walking by or driving by or in your office or at the grocery store?

Social networking is the worst idea in the history of mankind. Glorified idiots who have no self respect who bask in their own arrogance are the people who like this vessel. Corporations have finally found a way to Shepard the meek into giving up all rights of privacy. There is no real substance to what people conjure up in their imagination and put on these profiles, but one things is certain, it is permanent and an indelible record that can never be retracted as is this comment. There is no substitute for person to person socialization.
