Judy’s Book Wants More Reviews

Judy's book has an interesting little promotion going on. They are giving away a gift certificate every day. From John Cook's Venture Blog:

But the software giant isn't the only one utilizing this gimmick to attract Internet users. Seattle startup Judy's Book, which last summer offered free iPods to those who wrote 50 online reviews, today announced that it will give away a $100 gift certificate each day between Feb. 16 and March 5 to the individuals who write the most 50-word reviews on the online city guide's Web site.

What's better than that? Getting paid for your writing. Ok. That wasn't fair.

Jud'ys Book has also implemented some very cool things for republishing reviews to your own blog. They've also implemented hReview, which will make syndicating reviews a lot easier. Brad Feld has a great post about it, but his blog is down right now. (I read it yesterday.)

More Coverage: Judy's Book Blog. Bloggers blog. Greg Sterling.

My opinions: Judy's book better develop some RSS Indexing and search capabilities based off of Structured Blogging. Lots of people are starting to use their own blogs to publish reviews. Or maybe someone should create a Judy's Book plugin for MT and WordPress. I'd also like to see Judy's Book do some kind of revenue share with their content creators.
