LinkedIn: Post Your Tips, Ask Your Questions

LinkedIn is the most popular resource for business connections on the Web. Sort of the MySpace of business connections. What I want to know is, what do you do with LinkedIn? What kinds of tips can you offer a newbie just starting out with LinkedIn?
You may not even think about it if you've been using it for awhile so think back, back to when you first started using LinkedIn. What kinds of questions did you have? What confused the heck out of you? What did you have to learn to make LinkedIn successful for you?
Post it in the forum. Start off the LinkedIn discussion.

Have you heard of companies requiring employees to have LinkedIn profiles, and to use them to generate leads for the company’s sales. It was recently “suggested” to me that I should start posting questions on the Q&A on LinkedIn, connect to the people who responded, and then turn them over to our sales team.
I don’t like this practice and I said that I would prefer not to do it. In my mind, my profile is my “brand” and my property… not the company I happen to be working for in the moment.
What do you think?
