Lori Drew Guilty in MySpace Cyber-Bullying Case

Lori Drew, the Missouri mom who was charged with conspiracy and with "accessing protected computers without authorization to obtain information to inflict emotional distress" in an scheme to harass a 13-year-old neighbor girl, has been found guilty of the three "accessing" charges. The jury was deadlocked on the conspiracy charge, according to St. Louis Today.

According to news sources, the Los Angeles federal court jury rejected the felony charges brought by the prosecution and instead convicted Drew of three misdemeanor charges of accessing a computer without authorization to inflict emotional distress.

The teenage target of Lori Drew's efforts on MySpace was Megan Meier. Meier committed suicide in 2006 after "Josh Evans" (a fictitious 16-year old boy Drew created on MySpace) broke off a relationship with her.

More is most certainly to come on the issue…
