Meet Up With Webcams

I can't read or speak German, but my fellow blogger on TJ's Weblog can, and he really likes this site. KissNoFrog is a new online dating service that uses webcams so people can actually meet before meeting in person.
It's about time! I love the idea of chatting with webcams. Even though personal webcams have been around for well over a decade, their use as a social media has been slow in coming, at least in the US. Chatting with friends would be more fun if you could see them, their facial expressions, what they're wearing. I for one am typing in my jammies, but you'd neve know that without a webcam.
Using webcams for a dating service is just genius. Why not? When you meet someone on the Internet you're always worried about who they really are. What they look like and what their personalty is like is just not something you can know from reading a profile or even by using a traditional text based chat program. You need to see them.
Seeing them using chat is safer than meeting in person, obviously. By using webcams to meet for the first time, or first few times, you can get to know the person before you have to meet them one on one. Not only is dating with webcams more personal, but it's safer too.
