New Jersey Sets a Deadline on MySpace

New Jersey Sets a Deadline on MySpace

The state of new jersey, US, requested that MySpace give up the names of sex offenders using MySpace. They've now set a deadline. MySpace was given until July 9 to give up the names of sex offenders using MySpace and those that have been deleted by MySpace since the states original request.

They're claiming that half of the convicted sex offenders in the state that have profiles on MySpace are still on probation or parole and therefore are held to stricter regulations in regard to using the Internet.

I still don't believe that handing over some names will help keep the sex offenders off MySpace. They can just sign in under an alias and be whoever they want to be.

There seem to be a lot of convicted sex offenders out there perusing through MySpace. Remember to tell your kids about these dangers and how to handle them.

I can respect NJ officials for taking this step. It’s something that far more states need to be taking action about.
