Online Sex Predators Bill

The government is again trying to restrict the Internet, with good intentions, but do you really think it will do a lot of good? You can tell the kids not to create profiles on social networking sites and even set up age limitations on the sites software, the kids just lie about their age. You can tell the sexual predators not to chat with minors, but you can't stop them from doing it. Will a bill really help stop any of this?
This bill will essentially make it against the law for adults to lie about their age with the intent to "engage in criminal sexual conduct with a minor". It also makes it easier for the police and other law enforcement to catch convicted sexual offenders if they try to communicate with minors online.
The other thing this bill will do is to require that convicted sex offenders to not only register their addresses with the National Sex Offender registry but also their email address and IM addresses.
It's a nice thought but I really don't think it'll do any good. It's so easy to create anonymous email addresses these days that I don't think anyone can really keep up with whether every sex offender has registered every address.
