Just when Netflix started to leverage a critical mass of customers to effectively make reccomendations based on the community's viewing habits, Peerflix takes social networking and DVD watching to a whole new plane by making it possible to trade DVDs:

No membership fees
Peerflix will ALWAYS be the lowest cost way to watch DVDs - legally. With Peerflix, you pay as you go only 99 cents per trade. There are no hidden charges, no contracts.

And the biggest non-news in the whole business: Blockbuster continues to slip further into irrelevancy.

The big question remains who will take the big leaps?

Interesting post. I also just heard about Peerflix and although this seems like an intriguing business model, I wonder how they will compare to Netflix. I am willing to trade some of the DVDs I have in my collection, but do you think others feel the same way?

You'll have to add www.switchdiscs.com to the mix. A brand new site that might give peerflix and netflix some added competition.
