Pownce or Twitter?

You may already have heard of Twitter. It's a social networking site that lets you post about everything you're doing all day long. On Twitter you often find posts that are as simple as, "just fed my cat" or "just finished eating breakfast".

Pownce lets you do the same thing except that you have the option to make all your inane thoughts private. That's not the real purpose of Pownce though. Pownce also has instant messaging, file sharing, and event management

The main purpose of Pownce is file sharing. A quote from the Pownce homepage says, "Pownce is brought to you by a bunch of geeks who were frustrated trying to send stuff from one cube to another." Right now you can share messages, links, files, and events on Pownce.

The downside to Pownce, at the moment, is that it's by invitation only. That means that unless you know someone that's already on Pownce, you can't get in. You can, however, put your name on the waiting list.
