Reddit and Slate Sitting in a Tree

Reddit and Slate Sitting in a Tree

As netscape hires social bookmarkers and Digg gets mainstream press, Reddit is working behind the scenes on a co-brand deal w/ major political site, Slate. Pat McCarthy unearths the news:

Reddit has partnered with web magazine Slate to provide a social news interface for the articles published on Slate. You can see this in action at slate.reddit.com.

I didn\'t see any integration on Slate.com in a quick look, but this opens what could be an interesting way to drive more traffic and users to Reddit if they started allowing top publishers to have their own cobranded Reddit to allow users to socially vote on and interact with their stories.

Interesting. As Pat points out, this could be a great way for social bookmarking/community site laggard, Reddit to boost some traffic. I don't see anyone else following this path. Of course, most of the sites are opening up APIs and there are sites with the goal of aggregating "votes" from multiple sites. But, this is the first time I've seen a cobrand deal.
