Rising Social Networking Popularity
According to news sites like Austrailian IT (Mar 15) social networking is on the rise. (We could have told them that, right?)
The new stats show that visits to social networking sites rose 11.5% from January to February. Traffic to MySpace alone rose 10.2% and Facebook rose 9.1%, Wow!
If you're wondering who the big hitters are they come in with MySpace getting 80% of the market and Facebook at 10%.
I see MySpace climbing for a little while longer, maybe the rest of the year, but by this time next year I think they will level off and may even start to see a drop. While at the same time I see topic specific sites growing and maybe even catching up to MySpace in the next couple years.

Yep, that’s how I see it too. I’d rather belong to a smaller site that is specific to what I need, but at the same time I have a better chance of finding old friends on sites like MySpace because they are so much bigger.
