"Social Butterfly Networking"

The term "Social Butterfly Networking" was created by Craig Manganello, founder of SocBut.com. For him it means a social network based on location. So when you go to SocBut.com you'll be able to only interact with people that are near you.
When you sign up with SocBut.com you'll be able to put in your location and tell it how far out you want to meet people. If you're on vacation you can put in your new location and find people near your vacation spot. You'll be able to see what local people are thinking about the weather, where the best places to eat are, how the traffic is today and more.
I like the idea of being able to find local people to chat with. There never seems to be very many people near me on social networks though. SocBut.com's no different. Local social networking only seems to work if you live in a big city, I don't. The closest person on here to me is pretty far away.

Thank you for mentioning SocBut.com. One point I always try to stress to users is that building local community starts with you. Don’t be afraid to post the first message in your area and don’t be afraid to tell friends, family and neighbors about the website. The crowd I’m hoping to capture isn’t the usual social network crowd (Teenagers & Techies), it’s the New Familes (25+) to 100 years old crowd.
