Teens and Kids
by Linda Roeder on May 1, 2007

This did show some good things like some teens use false names instead of their real names, some use the built in safety tools that the social networking sites are providing and only 2% give out their cell phone numbers on their sites. I'd hate to be the mother of that 2% or of the or the 11% who give both their first and last name.
Other alarming numbers were that 49% of these kids are giving out the names of their schools and the majority of them are both posting a picture of themselves and telling what town they live in.
Since they figure that more than half of all teens have profiles on social networking sites it's time to warn the kids. If you have kids, sit them down and talk to them about the dangers of revealing too much. Online or offline.
What do you do to keep your kids from making these mistakes online?

Maybe if kids were aware of just how much of their info is available to strangers. At the moment these soc net sites all seem like fun and games and the sinister undertones are still well hidden. These sites need better privacy functions!!
