The Pea That Supports Breast Cancer

If you Twitter or use Facebook or Flickr, you may have noticed little peas popping up all over the place in photos. Particularly profile photos. Whether you noticed or not you're probably wondering why anyone would put a pea, of all things, in their profile photo.
Here's how the story goes. There's this woman, a blogger named Susan Reynolds, and she was diagnosed with breast cancer. One day she had to go in for a biopsy. After the biopsy was over and the anesthetic wore off she was in a lot of pain. She needed to keep ice on her sore spot to lessen the pain and also to keep the bleeding down.

Anyway, she didn't want to use a big bulky, blocky ice pack so she decided instead to use a bag of peas. They fit insider her bra rather nicely and were a little more comfortable. You can read more of this story on Tech Crunch.
Since then her blogging friends have all decided to support Susan by putting a pea into their photos. Then other bloggers caught on to this trend and together they all decided that this small little pea will now become a beacon for breast cancer.
If you want to show your support for the fight against breast cancer, you too can add a little pea to your profile photo.
