The blog is one of the main parts of a good social networking site. It tells you who you're reading about. Without it everyone would seem pretty much the same. Reading blogs is one of the things that makes a social networking site interesting and relevant.
"Web users worldwide are busy creating their profiles and networking with friends on these web sites. They surely regard it as the best way to stay in touch with people, and also to make new friends." ~ePurple Media - Your Business. Spiced Purple
If you were looking to meet new friends online, people you don't yet know, how would you go about choosing which people to make friends with. One of the best ways to make that decision is to read their blog. Find out who they really are, then make the decision. So get writing your own, it's a great way to make new friends.

Be aware howeve that a persons blog can portray a whole different persona. Some use blogs to reveal an alter ego. I guess it helps to see if the person is really messed up. ha
